Former Mac Clone Company Now Healthy Enough To Acquire E-Commerce Company
MacTell Corporation announced a decision to acquire DGR Technologies Inc. in order to fuel growth of the division. DGR is an e-commerce company that focuses on secure transactions. MacTell plans to use DGR's technology and expertise to further the growth of its iMaccessories product line. MacTell is a sponsor of The Mac Observer.

The Mac Observer Spin: The real story here is that a former Mac clone company and current Mac peripheral, graphic card, and processor upgrade company is in the position to A.) grow, and B.) acquire another company as part of that growth. MacTell was originally a Mac clone company that was forced out of their business by Apple's cancellation of its licensing practices. MacTell was also one of the only small clone makers to successfully make a transition to a new direction as listed above. The iMaccessories product line focuses mainly on USB solutions, but has been successful enough to propel the company even further.

So Apple's health (which will surely be argued by some as being possible in part because of the elimination of smaller and more agile competition like MacTell and Power Computing) and the phenomenal success of the iMac is bringing other companies up on their coattails. What a far cry from the situation only one year ago.
