Mac Users Get A New EDGE In Durable Graphics Printing
Gerber Scientific Products, Inc. has announced the release of software drivers and Illustrator plug-ins for the Gerber EDGE. The product is called MacImprint and is designed to allow Mac users to interface with the EDGE, a process which used to require Mac to PC conversions for those needing to do so. The EDGE is used to produce durable graphics (such as vinyl signs) for specialized uses. According to Gerber:

"MacImprint consists of three parts:

-- A Macintosh printer driver for the GERBER EDGE that allows Mac users to print four-color process graphics directly to the EDGE and to cut them with Gerber plotters.

-- An Adobe Illustrator(R) plug-in for accessing advanced EDGE capabilities like multiple spot-color assignment and advanced plotter functions like contour cutting.

-- A PCI parallel port hardware interface to provide an enhanced high-speed connection to the GERBER EDGE."

MacImprint is available from Gerber resellers at an estimated retail price of US$995 with availability expected in the beginning of March.
