St. Clair Software has announced the final version of Default Folder 3.0 has been released. Default Folder is a shareware control panel that enhances the Mac Open and Save Dialog Box. According to St. Clair Software:
"Default Folder 3.0 provides quick and easy access to users' favorite and recently used folders in all Open and Save dialogs, including Navigation Services dialogs. It also provides a host of other convenient file and folder management features, including the ability to click on Finder windows to display the contents of folders, and the capability of setting a default folder for any or all applications.
Default Folder Features:
- Set up a default folder for any or all applications.
- Switch among recently used folders.
- Easily navigate to favorite folders.
- Share common sets of recent and favorite folders among all Open and Save dialogs, including Mac OS 8.5's Navigation Services dialogs.
- Click on a Finder window to display its contents in a file dialog.
- See available disk space and quickly switch between disks.
- Open the folder shown in an Open or Save dialog in the Finder.
- Create folders, get information (including changing name, type, and creator), and move items to the Trash from within file dialogs.
- "Rebound" back to the last file used.
- Click on greyed-out filenames to enter a name in Save dialogs.
- Make 'Replace' the default option instead of 'Cancel' when saving a file with the same name as an existing file."
Default Folder 3.0 is a free upgrade for users who registered a previous version after January 31, 1998. There is a $15 upgrade fee for users who purchased Default Folder on or before that date. The full version is priced at US$25.
