SETI@home Corrects Improperly Reported Results
The SETI@home team has pulled improperly reported results that stemmed from a bug in the Mac SETI@home client (read more on the SETI@home project if you are unfamiliar with it). That bug allowed units to be reported back to the project servers as completed after only a few minutes instead of the many hours it actually takes. Unfortunately, some zealous Mac users actually deliberately exploited the bug in order to try and make the Mac platform look better.

The project team have found the bug and are testing a a new version of the client that corrects the problem and have now gone in and culled the bad results from their database. This affected the top Mac club teams including Team Mac Addict, Team O'Grady, and our own Team Mac Observer. We lost over 600 work units, knocking us back to 53rd in the Top 100.

Unfortunately, the project web site still shows the buggy reports under individuals which means that our Top 10 Most Completed Units and Top 10 Fastest Times are still skewed. Hopefully this will be corrected soon.

We need your help in this project and invite everyone to join the project and become a part of Team Mac Observer!

The Mac Observer Spin: Unfortunately, some zealous Mac users actually deliberately exploited the bug in order to try and make the Mac platform look better, though we are proud that there seem to have been no attempts to deliberately exploit the bug in our Team. For the record, we do NOT condone cheating to "win" in any contest.
