LaCie today announced that it is shipping Dupli-121, a new-generation multipurpose CD duplicator that combines an autonomous one-to-one CD duplicator, a multi-read CD-ROM drive and a powerful 8x20x CD-R drive in a single, cost-effective unit. Featuring automatic recognition of the format of the CD to be copied, the LaCie Dupli-121 is so easy to use, it only requires the push of a button.
With the new CD duplicator, organizations can quickly circulate information to their staff, clients, business partners and suppliers for pennies per Megabyte. A key advantage of the LaCie CD Duplicator is that it can produce copies of CDs while leaving the computer free for other activities. In autonomous mode, the LaCie Dupli-121 can duplicate a full CD in 9 minutes or less--without the need of a computer or software. Users simply insert the CD to be duplicated in the CD-ROM drive and the blank CD in the CD-R drive, and then press "start." In addition to providing a test function that checks the master CD, standby and cancel functions are also included.
The fully integrated CD-ROM and CD-R drive that are included with the Dupli-121 are recognized as SCSI peripherals via the connector on the back of the unit. As a result, when connected to a PC or Macintosh computer, the CD-ROM can be used for playback and the CD-Recorder can be used to create an original CD.
With the software utilities that are included (Toast for Macintosh computers and EasyCD Creator for Windows 95/98/NT ), recordings can be tailored to create a personalized copy or master CD.
All cables, manuals, authoring software utilities (for Windows 95/98/NT and Macintosh OS) and one-year warranty are included. LaCie also provides several optional SCSI cards (including Adaptec 2906, 2930, 2940), and accessories such as media.
