Problem With Dissapearing GoMac Task Bar Fixed In New Update
The good people of Power On Software have announced that a problem encountered by many, if not all, users of version 2.x of ACTION GoMac has been fixed. The problem experienced was that the task bar simply didn't show up starting on Saturday night. Here at The Mac Observer we tried reinstalling, throwing away preferences, and all the other usual tricks to no avail. Many Observers wrote in to tell us the same thing. Today, Power On sent out a letter to registered users advising that the problem has been fixed in an updater the company worked on to finish this weekend. According to Power On:

We are writing to let you know about a problem with ACTION GoMac 2.0.1 and to make you aware that we have fixed the bug and posted an update.

The problem, which you may have experienced for yourself, caused ACTION GoMac 2.0.1 to cease functioning on 5/30 and 5/31. It will resume functioning on June 1 but will stop functioning again on any day in future months that has the date 30 or 31.

We have fixed the problem in the 2.0.2 version, which was scheduled for release in early June, and worked around the clock to get it posted this weekend. Version 2.0.2 also fixes problems that were occasionally reported with Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.5 and Adobe Acrobat 3.x. This is a free upgrade to any owners of ACTION GoMac 2.0 or later.

The new version is available either on the ACTION Utilities web site or on Download.com. The Download.com pages currently reference version 2.0.1 but the download will actually be version 2.0.2. As soon as we can contact the administrators at Download.com we will have the references changed to 2.0.2.

Please accept our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience this problem may have caused.

Thanks to Power On for the fix!

The Mac Observer Spin: The problem was a frustrating one, but Power On deserves praise for working hard to get the fix in place as well as for notifying users. ACTION GoMac is a great utility.
