Following Apple Computer's lead in promoting brighter, more colorful computer hardware designs, Fantom Drives today unveiled a new external enclosure. Designed to compliment the Apple Power Macintosh G3 "Blue & White" computer, the new Fantom Drives enclosure features an elegant outer casing of translucent white plastic accented with eight blue rubber feet. Fantom Drives' red and black "FD" logo occupies the right-hand corner of the enclosure's front bezel just above the green power light. Visible beneath the top is a shadowed version of the Fantom Drives logo, creating an attractive symmetry between the Fantom Drives enclosure and the Apple Power Macintosh G3 chassis.
Fantom Drives has made changes to the enclosure below the skin as well. Dual wire-guards protect an improved exhaust fan boasting a higher mean time between failure (MTBF) rating than previous models. Combined with an efficient 50-Watt power supply and an all-metal subframe, the new Fantom Drives enclosure provides a safe and reliable housing for products ranging from entry-level to high-end professional data storage devices.
The new translucent Fantom Drives enclosures will begin shipping immediately with the Fantom Drives SCSI CD-Recorders, CD-ReWritables, DVD-ROM, DVD-RAM, DAT, and AIT drives. Planned for future release is a similarly styled enclosure for the Fantom Drives Hard Disk product line and replacement accent feet matching the four other iMac "fruit flavor" colors.
