New Anaconda Zip Drive Reads Both 250 MB and 100 MB Zip Disks
EZQuest, Inc. USA announced the release of the Anaconda Zip 250MB USB external drive. This external device will read and write both 100MB and 250MB Zip cartridges! According to EZQuest:

EZQuest recognizes the growing demands of data storage in the Mac environment by delivering plug and play USB connectivity and increasing the capacity of its 100MB drive, 150% to 250MB, while still allowing the use of 100MB disks (backwards compatible) in its Anaconda Zip 250MB USB external drive.

The Anaconda Zip 250MB USB external drive retails for US$239 and is shipping with an "ice" flavored exterior, USB cable, and one Zip 250MB cartridge. The company has set up an e-mail address for help with finding dealers.

The Mac Observer Spin: This product is actually part of Iomega's effort to revitalize Iomega itself. Though Iomega no longer faces much competiion with the death of SyQuest, they have still struggled with falling demand and difficulty in simply turning a profit. Licensing out the Zip drive to a company like EZQuest could help them reach new markets and helps spread the burden of marketing.
