Farallon Communications, Inc., announced that they are shipping cross-platform Internet sharing networking solutions. Farallon's new Internet Starter Kit provides an all-in-one solution for sharing a single Internet connection over an Ethernet network. Additionally, Farallon is offering Vicomsoft's SurfDoubler, their Internet sharing and firewall software, free to purchasers of select Starlet Hubs and Switches. According to Farallon:
Farallon's new Internet Sharing Starter Kit provides users with everything they need to setup a cross-platform 10Base-T Ethernet network for sharing a single Internet connection and more. Included, Vicomsoft's SurfDoubler software for Mac OS and Windows allows either a Macintosh or PC to be the Internet Gateway. A single ISP Internet connection using an analog modem, ISDN, xDSL (Digital Subscriber Line) or cable modem can then be shared through the gateway computer. To setup the Ethernet network with Macs, PCs or a combination of both, Farallon's Internet Sharing Kit also contains:
- 5-port 10Base-T Starlet Hub
- 2 PCI Ethernet Cards & Cables
- Driver Software for Mac OS & Windows
- User's Guide
Purchasers of select Farallon Ethernet and Fast Ethernet hubs and switches can download SurfDoubler for Mac OS or Windows free of charge - a $54 value. All Farallon Fast Ethernet dual-speed hubs and 10/100 switches along with the 16-port 10Mb Streamline Hub will contain an in-box coupon with an authorization code to download a copy of SurfDoubler off Farallon's web site. Customers who have purchased these products after today, but do not have an in-box coupon, can contact Farallon Customer Service to receive their download authorization code over the phone (proof of purchase required).
