Extensis Updates Portfolio Web Edition, Includes Support For New WebSTAR Suite
Extensis Corporation today announced that Portfolio Web Edition 4.0, its digital media asset management software designed specifically for Web publishing, is fully compatible with the newly released WebSTAR Service Suite 4.0 from StarNine. According to Extensis:

By incorporating support for this upgrade to StarNine's integrated suite of Internet server software, Portfolio users will now be able to easily publish catalogs of information to the Web within WebSTAR Service Suite's high-performance, infrastructure-enriched environment.

"In addition to sharing, managing, and distributing digital media locally, Portfolio coupled with the industry standard in use on thousands of Macintosh networks, WebSTAR Service Suite, brings users a complete solution for dynamically publishing assets to the Web without any scripting," said Sioux Fleming, senior product marketing manager, Extensis.

Portfolio Web Edition enables users to automate the process of providing digital media including images, logos, photographs, documents, audio, or animations to users, partners and customers over the Internet without complicated programming. Users can customize the way Portfolio assets are viewed on the Web with HTML. Furthermore, Portfolio Web Edition lets users publish assets to the Web that are viewable over the Web with only a Web browser.

"The combination of WebSTAR Service Suite and Portfolio Web Edition gives Macintosh users an all-encompassing, extremely powerful, yet easy-to-use Web publishing system," said Eric Zelenka, product manager for WebSTAR Service Suite. "With complete support for WebSTAR, the Web server software of choice for Mac OS Webmasters, Extensis continues to set the pace in delivering the next generation in digital media asset management solutions."

Bringing digital assets to the Internet is easy because Portfolio Web Edition automates the process of publishing Portfolio catalogs to the Web. Included with Portfolio Web Edition is Portfolio 4.1, the client, or stand-alone package, that allows users to update the database, as well as providing four levels of access to add, remove, edit or control the Portfolio catalog.

US English versions of Portfolio 4.0 Web Edition are currently available for an estimated street price of US$399.95.

The Mac Observer Spin: By supporting WebSTAR Service Suite, Extensis has created a very powerful combination that allows users to publish vast amounts of digital media quickly and easily, without losing any organization that previously existed in their libraries.
