HP Makes Releases Mac Drivers For More USB Printers
Hewlett Packard has announced new Mac drivers for more of their USB printers. These printers were previously available only for the PC. According to HP:

"These drivers, which are free of charge and available on the Web, enable USB-based (Universal Serial Bus) Macintosh computers to connect to award-winning HP DeskJet 895Cse/Cxi and 880C/882C printers.

The new DeskJet printer drivers for Macintosh computers are designed to provide performance comparable to that of currently available Windows(R)-compatible printer drivers in the areas of print quality and speed. The HP DeskJet printer-driver solution for Macintosh includes supporting documentation that users can print directly from the Web."

The new drivers can be downloaded from HP's Web site and HP expects the drivers to ship with these printers out of the box sometime during the spring.

The Mac Observer Spin: This is cool. HP showing more interest and devoting more resources to the Mac platform is a very good thing. Of course, developing drivers is not the same as coming out with a new MAc-only product, but that is the beauty of USB, they don't have to.

With the addition of these printers to the Mac market, Mac users have greatly expanded printing options. That's a good thing.
