AutoMactic For The People: QuicKeys 4 Announced
CE SOftware has announced a long anticipated update for QuicKeys that will bring the shortcut and macro program to version 4.0. The new version brings MacOS 8.5 compatibility and several new features and other enhancements. According to CE Software:

"QuicKeys 4.0 features compatibility with Mac OS 8.5, more than 50 new automation capabilities, an updated interface, completely revised documentation and several other improvements including:

  • Compatibility with Mac OS 8.5.
  • Ten new QuicKeys plug-ins that prime QuicKeys for use with the Web, Internet E-mail and the Macintosh desktop.
  • New Setup Assistants for easier shortcut creation.
  • Completely updated, non-modal Editor interface with type-to support.
  • New contextual menus for creating shortcuts.
  • Improved toolbars with drag-and-drop functionality for launching programs and documents. -
  • Full integration with Mac OS 8.5's Appearance Manager themes
  • Enhanced reliability and performance.
  • All-new printed manual and continued free telephone technical support."

Suggested retail price for the upgrade is US$35.95 for registered users of QuicKeys 3.5 or later, $49.95 for registered users of QuicKeys 3.0.1 or earlier, and $14.95 for registered users of QuicKeys PowerPak. The full version will retail for US$99.95. QuicKeys 4.0 is expected to ship in the next 60 days according to CE Software, and the company is accepting advance orders.
