Need Storage? 100 GB SCSI RAID Solution Announced
Medea Corporation has announced a new SCSI RAID solution aimed at the AV market. According to Medea:

This four-drive, high-speed RAID solution for Macintosh, SGI and Windows-based non-linear editing systems delivers a sustained data transfer rate of 36 MB/second -- more than enough performance to support dual-stream, real-time effects systems. Called VideoRaid 4/100 scsi, the system utilizes IBM Corporation's new DeskStar 25GP disk drives and can store over 4 hours of broadcast quality video footage.

VideoRaid 4/100 scsi supports all popular video editing systems from companies such as Avid, Canopus, DPS, FAST, Media 100, NewTek, Pinnacle Systems, and Radius. This includes dual-stream, real-time effects boards, including Avid's Xpress, FAST's 601 (six-o-one), Matrox's DigiSuite/DigiSuite LE, Media 100 xe/xs/xr, Pinnacle System's ReelTime/ReelTime Nitro and TARGA 2000RTX.

VideoRaid 4/100 scsi will be available from authorized distributors in May 1999. The company expects the street price of the VideoRaid 4/100 scsi to be approximately $4,500.
