Boom! Sonnet Lowers Prices On G3 Upgrade Cards
The time is at hand for another round of price cuts on G3 upgrade cards and Sonnet Technologies is leading this wave. These cards are for PCI PowerMacs based on pre-G3 processors. According to Sonnet:

Sonnet Technologies sets new prices on its Crescendo G3 product lines for the upgrade-challenged Macintosh models. These processor upgrade cards occupy the L2 cache slot for Macintosh computers which are built with the CPU soldered directly onto the motherboard, instead of an upgradeable daughter card. With the processor upgrade installed into the L2 cache slot, these upgrade-challenged machines achieve a significant performance increase.

  • Crescendo G3/L2 300/1M $499.95
  • Crescendo G3/L2 400/1M $799.95

* Indicated models are 50 MHz bus Macintosh models which can support the Crescendo G3/L2 400 MHz processor upgrade cards.

The Mac Observer Spin: This is true for all the companies making upgrade cards: If you have put off upgrading your PowerMac, or have been waiting to buy a new Blue & White G3 or iMac, but found that you STILL don't have the money, then buy a G3 upgrade card. The difference will amaze you and your productivity (or game playing) will increase markedly. The companies that make G3 upgrade cards for the Mac market are all topnotch companies. With prices lower than they ever have been , this is a good time.
