The makers of LightWave 3D, one of the premier 3D solutions, have announced that the two most recent releases of LightWave 3D support Mac OS 9. The company also boasts about the performance of the packages when running in Mac OS 9. According to NewTek:

NewTek today announced that LightWave 3D 5.6, and the recently announced LightWave [6], are completely compatible and run seamlessly under Apple's new MAC(R)OS 9.

Registered users of LightWave 3D 5.6 can upgrade to LightWave [6] for $495; upgrades are available through authorized NewTek dealers.
