It is always a bad feeling when you finally find out your favorite band played a local show and you totally missed it. Apple wants to fix that specific problem for its listeners. The company just rolled out an update for Apple Music that automatically helps you keep track of upcoming live concerts.
The new tool looks at the artists you already listen to and alerts you when they schedule a performance in your area.
How the new concert discovery works
The application now uses your personal listening history to generate a custom list of upcoming shows. You no longer have to manually search the internet for tour dates or follow every band on social media just to stay informed. If you play a lot of songs by a specific singer, Apple Music will highlight their next local show right inside the app.
The software takes the music you stream every day and connects it directly to real live events happening near your city. You also get a dedicated space to browse performances by artists you might not follow yet, but who match your current taste.
Apple has teamed up with Ticketmaster for sales
To make this entire system function properly, Apple partnered directly with Ticketmaster to power the event data. When you spot a concert you want to attend while browsing the Apple Music app, you can simply tap on the event listing. The application then sends you straight to the Ticketmaster platform so you can check seat availability and buy your passes. You do not have to hop between different websites to figure out where to buy your entry.
This update makes the streaming platform much more useful for active music fans who love going to live events. Finding out about a tour early gives you a much better chance to grab good seats before they sell out entirely. The concert discovery feature is currently rolling out to users everywhere.
You should start seeing show recommendations and tour dates pop up on your screen over the next few weeks.
