Lobbying disclosure reports filed by Apple for Q2 2020 and Q3 2020 show the company is interested in topics like “issues related to tax credits for domestic semiconductor production.”

Most of Apple’s chip production is sourced to manufacturers like Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), as well as Chinese manufacturers. But with the tensions between the U.S. and China, such as the ongoing trade war, many companies including Apple are looking to diversify their supply chain.

Components for Apple products that are manufactured in the U.S. include those from Broadcom, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, Intel, and Global Foundries.
