Apple announced Schoolwork on Tuesday during its Chicago EdTech media event. The free, cloud-based software allows teachers to assign specific activities within an app to a child. It also allows them monitor that activity as the class works on assignments.

CEO Tim Cook went to pans to note that Schoolwork protects privacy, and that neither Apple nor anybody else aside from the teacher can access a classroom’s data.

More details to follow.
