  • There are two good Illustrator alternatives available:

    Graphic at https://graphic.com and
    Affinity Designer at https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/designer/

    I have both and use them both. Affinity Designer has the better GUI for me but still has some bugs that affect what I do – I work with SVG and PDF files I produce from a Java app. Designer is Mac only.

    Graphic has really come a long way from it earlier days as iDraw. It was bought by AutoDesk and became better, but now appears to be owned by a company called Picta. As far as I can tell it does SVG Import/Export and PDF perfectly. The GUI seems to have improved also. A main advantage of Graphic is that apps are available for MacOS and iOS.

    I used Inkscape quite a while ago, but then the GUI wasn’t very good. I imagine it has improved, however I’m happy with Graphic and Designer now.
