Baring the easy integration with Safari between MacOS and iOS/iPad OS, FireFox is really the browser of choice as you can choose to make it very secure less secure as you wish. Many Extensions, plugins and themes that can be added as well.
Instead of Goole Chrome, Microsoft as Andrew report just released the Edge Chromium Browser for Mac OS. This would defiantly be a good alternative to Google Chrome with Microsoft adding additional security and anti tracking features.
