Apple Schedules Q3 Earnings Conference Call The Day Before MACWORLD

Apple Schedules Q3 Earnings Conference Call The Day Before MACWORLD

by , 3:20 PM EDT, July 9th, 2001

Apple has officially announced its Q3 conference call for Tuesday, July 17th at 5:00 PM Eastern. That's the day before the MACWORLD New York keynote address from Apple CEO Steve Jobs. Apple is largely expected to meet estimates for the current quarter, though there have been rumblings that the company might miss revenue estimates from some analysts.

The Mac Observer will be covering the conference call when it takes place.

The Mac Observer Spin:

We think that Apple is very likely to meet their profit mark, and the scheduling of this conference call is the final piece of the puzzle. There is no way that Apple would schedule such a conference call 16 hours before Steve Jobs' keynote unless the company felt strongly that it would meet estimates. Mr. Jobs is not likely to want a negative cloud hanging over what is likely to be a major presentation of new hardware. That is highly speculative and an extremely subjective opinion, but we are here to play Devil's Advocate as well. It is possible that the timing of the conference call has been planned so that the excitement of MACWORLD will help quell any investor tension over a missed quarter. Feel free to argue this out in the comments below or at the Apple Finance Boards.
