6 Female App Developers and the Apps and Games They Create

To celebrate International Women’s Day, which is tomorrow, we’re exploring the App Store for apps created by female app developers. But they aren’t just about the apps, they’re about the women behind them.

Ayaka Nonaka: Workflow, Venmo, Apple

She also presents talks at conferences, such as Natural Language Processing with Swift and Testing: View Models & Protocols. Other projects she’s working on include Parsimmon, a linguistics toolkit for iOS, and Polyglot, a Swift API for Microsoft Translator.

Carola Nitz: VLC for iOS

Carola started programming in 2009 with a student job at Nik Software.

Kamilah Taylor: LinkedIn, Wolfram Research

When I see titles like these, normally I just pass on by. Who cares who makes awesome apps?! I don’t go looking for apps created by females, males, Indians, blacks or Asians – I go looking for awesome apps. For the love, we have to stop labeling people for the sake of labeling. If anything, it creates animosity and division. Good apps, good managers, good CEOs – ANYTHING good will rise to the top.
