A page on GitHub features a huge list of open source Mac apps, with categories ranging from Audio all the way to Window Management. You can see the full list here, and I’ll include some apps here that stood out to me.

Open Source Mac Apps

  • WWDC – Unofficial WWDC app for macOS.
  • Cakebrew – Manage your Homebrew formulas with style using Cakebrew.
  • Gas Mask – Hosts file manager for OS X. (Block Facebook anyone?)
  • Dolphin – Powerful, Open Source emulator for Nintendo GameCube and Wii games.
  • PhotoMiner – macOS app for finding and lost forgotten photos on your disks.
  • Keka – The macOS file archiver. (I use and love Keka)
  • Paperless Desktop – Desktop app that uses the paperless API to manage your document scans.
  • Fanny – Monitor your Mac’s fan speed and CPU temperature from your Notification Center.
  • Apple Juice – Advanced battery gauge for macOS.
  • ProfileCreator – macOS Application to create standard or customized configuration profiles.

There are plenty more cool apps on the list so check it out if open source is important to you.
