Apple Announces iMac for Educational Market

Apple announced the immediate availability of a 17-inch iMac configuration for the educational market on Monday. The new iMac, which replaces the eMac, includes a 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo processor, built-in iSight camera, 512MB RAM, a Combo drive for burning CDs and reading DVDs, Gigabit Ethernet, built-in Airport Extreme and Bluetooth, five USB 2.0 ports, two FireWire 400 ports, and iLife i06. This special iMac configuration is available only through Apple education channels for US$899.

The Education iMac also marks the official end of the eMac and Macs with built-in CRT displays.
