Apple Introduces New iPod, Software

A pple Computer has just announced a new model to supplement its popular iPod digital music player as well as new software to allow onboard storage of contact information. The new iPod features 10Gb of storage, twice that of the previous model, as well as custom engraving of the case. From Appleis press release:

iPod owners can now add a special touch to their new iPod by personalizing the stainless steel back with a custom laser engraving. The iPod can be engraved with a name and/or personal message to commemorate special events such as a graduation, birthday, or a winning team?s season, as well as for identification in case of loss.
Apple has also released new software to let all iPod owners use their devices to store and display personal contact information already entered in their favorite address-book applications. Also from the Apple press release:
iPod is the first portable music player that allows users to carry all their contact information for a thousand colleagues, family and friends, right next to their entire music collection. Customers can transfer contact lists from Entourage, Palm Desktop or Mac? OS X?s Address Book into the iPod Contacts folder.
Also added to the software upgrade are 20 EQ presets, such as R&B and Classical, to adjust the dynamic range to better match the music being played. The 10Gb iPod is immediately available for the suggested retail price of $499. (US) The pricing of the original model stays the same at $399.
