Apple Releases iSync Beta Over Weekend

A pple released a beta version of iSync over the weekend. iSync was announced at MACWORLD New York, and is designed to allow you to sync BlueTooth phones (there are four currently listed as being compatible with iSync), your iPod, Palm OS devices, and iCal and Address Book between Macs. Mac OS X 10.2.1 is required for iSync, and the Mac to Mac synchronization features are currently limited to "any PowerBook G4, iBook, iMac, eMac or Power Mac G4 running Mac OS X v.10.2.1 (.Mac membership required)." The list of compatible devices is included below:

Mobile phones:

  • Sony Ericsson T68i
  • Ericsson T68
  • Ericsson T39
  • Ericsson R520

Other devices:
Any iPod (using version 1.2 or later of iPod software).
Palm OS devices from Palm or Handspring capable of syncing with HotSync 3.0 or later and Palm Desktop 4.0 or later for Mac OS X.

Mac to Mac:
Any PowerBook G4, iBook, iMac, eMac or Power Mac G4 running Mac OS X v.10.2.1 (.Mac membership required).
