Apple To Announce Earnings Today At 4:00 PM CST, QT Streaming Braodcast Available

Apple will be announcing their financial results for their 1st fiscal quarter (ending December 31st, 2000) at 4:00 PM CST (2:00 PM PST) today, after the markets close. The company is expected to report their first loss since the fiscal 4th quarter of 1997 before Steve Jobs retook the helm of the company. That loss is expected to be a doozy too, at between US$225 million and US$250 million.

Slow sales in the consumer space and poor timing in changes they made to their education sales model are the two biggest reasons cited in an earnings warning issued in December. Not providing CD-RW options as well as being stuck at 500 MHz for almost a year and a half were also big contributors.

The Mac Observer will be reporting the results as soon as they are available. You can also see the conference call as a QuickTime streaming broadcast from Appleis Web site. A full analysis will be posted here tomorrow.
