Asante Now Shipping New Xwing Wireless FriendlyNET Connectivity

Asante Technologies, Inc. is now shipping the FriendlyNET AeroLAN AL1511 wireless PCMCIA card for Mac users. The FriendlyNET AeroLAn card is designed for wireless Internet connectivity. The card ships with an Xwing designed antennae for improved signal strength. According to Asante Technologies:

Asante Technologies, Inc. today announced shipment of the FriendlyNET AeroLAN AL1511 wireless PCMCIA card.

The innovative Xwing design lets users independently position the adapteris 2 antennas to maximize signal strength--minimizing interference and noise. The hardware-based diversity system constantly evaluates the wireless signals and automatically switches to the antenna with the stronger signal.

The compact AL1511 uses just 1 PCMCIA slot--freeing up slots for other accessories. When not in use, the Xwing antennas simply flip down. Other features include:

  • Built-in Site Survey utility (for Windows 98SE/Me/NT/2000) scans all nearby available wireless access points and allows users to select the one they want
  • Compatible with virtually all Windows-based notebooks with PCMCIA or CardBus slots
  • Works with FriendlyNET wireless routers, Apple AirPort, and other IEEE 802.11b devices
