Asante To Preview AirPort Ready Router At MACWORLD

Asante is preparing to display a host of new products at this weekis MACWORLD Expo, but perhaps the most intriguing of the bunch is their new wireless capable net router. The FriendlyNET 2.0 update is completely compatible with Appleis AirPort technology and offers Windows/Linux print server support as well. According to Asante:

ANNOUNCING WIRELESS FRIENDLY NET ROUTER
Asante is releasing new FriendlyNET 2.0 firmware (a $20 upgrade kit), which will be available at the end of January. In addition, Asant is displaying the first Internet router with support for Apple Airport and other 802.11b wireless devices. The FriendlyNET FR3004AL includes a wireless access point and a Windows and Linux print server. Asante has redesigned the FriendlyNET routers with more highly advanced features, and as a bonus, they now have more intuitive WAN choices for exceptional ease of use.

NEW HIGH SPEED INTERNET ACCELLERATOR
Asante is previewing their FriendlyNET Internet Accelerator for businesses and educational environments. The FriendlyNET Internet Accelerator is the worldis first NAT router with cache. It features 10/100 Internet or local network connections with a high-performance caching engine that holds web content in local RAM and hard disk. NEW HIGHER DENSITY GIGABIT SWITCHES
In addition to the Gigabit and Internet connectivity families, Asante will also preview several additions to its IntraCore and Copper GBIC product lines. The new switches will include a choice of 8 -- 12 Gigabit Ethernet ports, and modular GBIC Ports with a choice of unmanaged or web-based management, along with multi-service capabilities. The modular GBIC Gigabit Ethernet ports are made for fiber or copper media.

WORLDiS FIRST GBIC MODULE
Finally, Asante is pleased to announce the coming availability of the worldis first Copper GBIC module, available in the Second Quarter of 2001. The Copper GBIC module is perfect for upgrading Asant, Cisco, or other industry-standard Gigabit Ethernet switches to 1000BaseT--the new standard for Ethernet over UTP Cat 5 copper wires.
