Aspyr Debuts Civ IV Patch Beta

Aspyr Media on Monday issued a public Beta for its 1.61 Rev A patch for the turn-based strategy game Civilization IV. It fixes problems related to performance on dual CPU Macs and some missing sounds, although others could still be inaudible, according to the company. The Beta patch is available at MacGameFiles.

The publisher also noted one known issue related to the game, which shipped last month: kernel panics on Intel Macs, which can be fixed by running the latest Mac OS X v10.4.7 update. If that doesnit work, Aspyr recommends turning off FSAA (full-screen anti-aliasing) options and/or playing the game in a window.

Civilization IV sells for US$49.99.
