Best [2:30 PM] Macworld Magazine Sims, You Complete Me
The long awaited release of The Sims has finally come, and reviews are starting to pour in. This, however, has to be our favorite. The author takes a tounge-in-cheek look at how The Sims compares to the TV show Survivor, and concludes that The Sims is better. Our favorite quote from this piece:Sure, most of the time Big Brother offers me nothing more than George puttering around the yard, and the television show is about as thrilling as a glass of warm water. But the occasional live drama more than makes up for the mundanity that is Curtis. Of course, those of us who have been hip to online journals and Web cams have long known that the best kind of live drama is unedited. JenniCam, the high-profile Web site showcasing a young woman and her Web cam, has been a virtual soap opera lately. If you arenit a fan, or havenit read about it in the news, Jenni recently hijacked her best friendis fiancé. (Her best friend is neighbor and fellow Web cam operator Courtney). Now call me old-fashioned, but mightnit stealing a friendis fiancé constitute shocking real-life drama? CBS couldnit pay for anything this riveting.

Best [3:00 PM] Applelinks: Final Warp Core - Look To The Rainbow
John Martellaro bids good bye to his excellent column, The Warp Core. He is going to work for Apple and can no longer write speculative piece on his new employer. We will all be much the poorer to see him go, but he will be continuing to write fiction for Applelinks. This final piece deals with his journey to where he today; the pursuit of a dream. A very good read, though a long column. Go read it, and then bid Mr. Martellaro good luck with his new job! To be sure, I had bought a 128K Mac and, later, a Macintosh Plus, but they were toys. At Oak Ridge, I had a maxed out Quadra 700 running A/UX, became an Apple Resource Coordinator, and got them to send me to WWDC every year. At home I had acquired a Mac II, bought on the Apple Developer Program and a Centris 610 after that. Every year, at WWDC, I would fantasize about working for Apple, but things became difficult for Apple after Windows 95 was released; it blind sided them. As did Windows NT.

Jessica Stephensi column at MacInStart has quickly become one of our favorites. This week, she talks about her husband, the budding interior decorator. It seems Appleis iMac color line has given him the bug, but she doesnit necessarily like the results.
