Blizzard Details Burning Crusade Collector's Edition

Blizzard has revealed the details of a Collectoris Edition of the World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade expansion pack that will ship by the end of 2006. The box, similar to the Collectoris Edition of the full game, will contain the expansion pack on CD and DVD, a behind-the-scenes video DVD, a hardcover book called The Art of World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, a mouse pad showing a map of Outland, a soundtrack CD, an exclusive in-game pet called the Netherwhelp, and a pair of World of Warcraft trading card game starter packs, along with exclusive cards.

Originally announced last October, Burning Crusade promises major changes to World of Warcraft, including the addition of two new races, the Blood Elves (Horde) and the Draenei (Alliance). A new continent, Outland, is available for exploration, and characters will be able to go beyond the current 60-level cap to reach 70th level.

Outland offers not only new dungeons, battlefields, quests, monsters and NPCs but also new airborne mounts that enable players to more easily traverse inhospitable terrain. A new profession, jewelcrafting, ties into the advent of "socketable" items that can be customized, and all character classes will gain new spells and other abilities.

Blizzard has yet to announce a ship date for the expansion pack, which is in line with its policy of releasing games when theyire ready. Pricing will be available at a later date. System requirements are expected to be the same as those needed for the full game, but that hasnit been confirmed.
