E-Book Systems Releases Mac Version of FlipViewer Reader

E-Book Systems Inc. on Tuesday released the Macintosh version of FlipViewer, software that enables users to read books, magazines and other publications created with the companyis Digital Flip technology. The application features 3D page-flipping effects, the ability to "thumb" through a book with a mouse, support for playing embedded audio files, the choice between centerfold and two-page layouts, WYSIWYG printing and more.

Mac FlipViewer differs from its Windows counterpart, however, in its lack of a find and refresh function and the inability to view images on a local hard drive. It also works only with the Safari Web browser and is not compatible with Flip AMS and Flip Analyzer, which allow those who publish digital publications with E-Bookis technology to manage advertising and track the usage of their FlipBooks, respectively. The companyis authoring tool, FlipPublisher Enterprise, is Windows-only.

Mac FlipViewer, which is a free download, also requires a G3 450MHz processor, Mac OS X v10.2, 128MB RAM and 15MB free hard drive space.
