Eovia on Monday released Carrara 3D Basics 2, the latest version of its software aimed at amateur artists and others who want to learn more about creating 3D images. New features added to this upgrade include a scene wizard with more than 100 pre-built scenes, a sky simulator, a tree modeler and object manipulators. In addition, it offers improvements to the terrain modeler, image filters, interactive previews, spline modeling and more. Carrara 3D Basics 2 also supports all of the plug-ins available for the full-featured Carrara 4.
Eoviais Web site does not indicate upgrade pricing for existing Carrara 3D Basics users. The full software, which is available now as a download with physical copies shipping by the end of May, is US$99. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.1, a G3 266MHz processor, 128MB RAM and 300MB free hard drive space.
