FileSalvage 4.1 Adds Forensics Capabilities

SubRosaSoft on Friday shipped version 4.1 of its data recovery software FileSalvage. This upgrade adds detailed logging and the ability to process disk images, forensics features that can be used by professionals who need to retrieve data that will be used as evidence. It can now not only analyze standard ISO disk images but also analyze unencrypted EnCase, UNIX dd, Drive Genius and SubRosaSoft CopyCatX files.

FileSalvage can retrieve deleted files, as well as data seemingly lost in corrupt media, from hard drives as well as external devices and CD and DVD discs. It features a preview that allows users to decide which files they want to recover before initiating the procedure, and it can also permanently erase the free space on a volume as well as "shred" a drive so that no traces of data are left.

This is a free upgrade for anyone who owns FileSalvage 2.0 or higher. The full software is US$89.95 delivered on a CD or $79.95 as a download. Mac OS X v10.3 or higher is required.
