FileWave System Adds Ability to Upgrade Macs from Panther to Tiger

FileWave on Thursday announced that its patch management software FileWave can now automatically deliver and install Mac OS X v10.4 "Tiger" upgrades to machines running v10.3.x.

Company chief development officer Norbert M. Doerner said in a statement that such a task "was considered impossible by everyone we spoke with at Appleis Worldwide Developer Conference this year." While he did not provide specific information about how FileWave solved the problem, he did say that the companyis package creation feature, FileSet Magic, as well as its patch management feature, Patch Installer, were part of that process.

FileWave will be holding workshops explaining this upgrade in cities around the world in the coming weeks. Current customers can also look at FileWaveis Customer Board Web site to learn more. The company will be offering special pricing until the end of 2005 for businesses not currently using FileWave. Thereis also a fixed usage fee option for businesses that want to roll out a one-time upgrade to Tiger.
