FireWireWorld Founders Resign, Aim To Focus On The Mac Observer

FireWireWorld co-founders Bryan Chaffin and Dave Hamilton have stepped down to concentrate on The Mac Observer on a full-time basis. After launching FireWireWorld this January, both Mr. Chaffin and Mr. Hamilton feel that the site needs full-time devotion and leadership to take it to the next level. Taking over as Editor-in-Chief is FireWireWorld veteran Jeff Questad, who has been a columnist and contributer from the begining. According to FireWireWorld:

Bryan Chaffin, the editor of FireWire World since its beginning, stepped down today to devote himself full time to the work of guiding the well known Mac news site, The Mac Observer, where he has been the long time Editor-In-Chief. At the same time, Dave Hamilton, also of The Mac Observer, and a force in the initial growth of FireWireWorld from the backend will also settle into his role at The Mac Observer and no longer act as a director of FireWire World business or editorial matters.

In a letter to FireWire World readers announcing his move, Chaffin wrote:

"Today I announce my resignation from FireWireWorld, something that comes with a mixture of emotions. On the one hand, I am sad to leave the magazine which we have worked hard to build. On the other hand, I leave it in the hands of Jeff Questad who will be taking over my position as Editor-in-Chief. FireWireWorld has gotten to the point where it needs a full-time steward, and Jeff has already won many fans with his column, The FireWire Bridge. In addition, he knows as much about FireWire as anyone, so I think you will enjoy his tenure with the publication."

"I will continue with my first love, The Mac Observer, and I hope to see many of you there."

Chaffin is replaced in the editorial matters by Questad, who is familiar to FireWire World readers as a contributor. He will be FireWire Worldis first full time editor, and will be formally "introduced" to siteis readers in a piece running this Friday. Other site management duties previously handled by Dave Hamilton will allso now fall to the incoming FireWire World editorial and management teams as well.

Hamilton also had parting words for FireWire World readers:

"Today marks the beginning of a new FireWireWorld. Along with the departure of Bryan Chaffin from the magazine, I am also leaving my post here to focus on the other ventures which demand so much of my time."

"I am still reachable over at The Mac Observer, where we will continue to forge full speed ahead into the growing web publishing markets."
