Forbes Sets Jobs Worth at $3 billion; Up From 2004

Apple Computer Chief Executive Officer Steve Jobs is the 194th richest person with a net worth of US$3 billion, according to Forbes magazineis 2005 rankings of the worldis billionaires, released late Thursday.

Mr. Jobsi net worth is up from $2.1 billion in 2004, jumping 68 places from a ranking of 262nd last year.

No. 1 spot is unchanged with Microsoft founder Bill Gates leading the list for the 11th straight year with a net worth of $46.5 billion, slightly less than his $46.6 billion last year.

Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page jumped nearly 500 spots on this years list to No. 55, with their net worth multiplying to $7.2 billion each after the companyis initial public offering in August. Oracle founder Larry Ellison, ranked ninth, returning to the top 10 after slipping to No. 12 last year.

The collective net worth of the worldis 691 billionaires is $2.2 trillion, up $300 billion from the combined net worths of the 587 people listed last year. Forbes said that 388 of the 691 names in the list are "self-made" billionaires. The list includes 68 women billionaires.

Forbes said the rankings were compiled using the Feb. 11 closing price of publicly traded stock owned by the billionaires.
