The original Planet of the Apes movie was ground breaking on many levels, and on par with many of the thought-provoking episodes of The Twilight Zone. Few people know that Rod Serling, the creator The Twilight Zone, also had a big hand in writing the Planet of the Apes movie. Still fewer people know that the movie was based on the novel published in 1963 titled Monkey Planet by Pierre Boulle.

But wait! What if Rod Serling decided that, instead of making a monkey out of Roddy McDowall on the silver screen, he put the Monkey Planet story on the TV screen by making it an episode of The Twilight Zone? Hmmmm!
