HELIOS Software has released Universal Binary updates to its free LANTest and File System Test network utilities. The developer also added support for 10 Gigabit Ethernet networks in the process.
LANTest tests a local area networkis (LAN) throughput and performance, rapidly creating, opening, and deleting files; performing read/write throughput tests; checking file locking performance; examining printing and spooling performance; and testing single- and multi-user server connections.
Aimed at each Mac user on a network, File System Test enables them to verify if a file server is Mac OS X compatible. It runs 11 different tests that check for Apple Filing Protocol, Windows SMB Protocol, Network File System, WebDAV, support for file sizes greater than 4GB, and more. A detailed error message log accompanies each failed examination.
