Igor Helps Make Beautiful Music

NoteHeads has announced that the popular music notation system, Igor Engraver, is now available as freeware. Igor Engraver is a digital music notation format for composing and distributing sheet music on the Web. According to NoteHeads:

Igor Engraver, the world’s best music notation program, goes freeware.

NoteHeads AB is proud to announce the launching of Igor Engraver, an advanced music notation program designed to revolutionize the work of composers, arrangers and publishers all over the world. The program is the brainchild of composer and programmer Peter Bengtson, who developed it with the assistance of, among others, Anders Hillborg, Esa-Pekka Salonen and Bengt-Arne Wallin.

By releasing Igor Engraver as a freeware product, NoteHeads aims to establish its digital storage format as the No. 1 standard for the distribution of sheet music on the Internet. This standard will then serve as the basis for NoteHeads On Line, a distribution system for publishing, storing, distributing, listening to and selling sheet music on the Internet.
