Intego on Tuesday introduced ContentBarrier X4 and Internet Security Barrier X4 Antispam Edition. The former lets parents block Web sites with inappropriate subject matter, as well as chats using predatory language. Users can choose from predefined categories when setting up the software, or create their own. Pricing is US$59.95, or $34.95 as an upgrade, with free upgrades for users who purchased a previous edition on or after April 20, 2006.
Internet Security Barrier X4 Antispam Edition includes three applications: NetBarrier X4, VirusBarrier X4, and Personal Antispam X4. New features include improved user interfaces, automatic software updates, and improbed program filters and virus definitions. This version also uses one serial number and installer for all three utilities.
Pricing is $89.90 for the full version or $49.95 as an upgrade. The same upgrade policy offered for ContentBarrier X4 applies to Internet Security Barrier X4 Antispam Edition.
Both new products require Mac OS X v10.2.8 or higher. Theyire both Universal Binaries that run on Intel- or PowerPC-based Macs.
