Intel Asks to See AMD's ATI Papers

Intel on Thursday filed papers seeking permission to serve a subpoena on video card maker ATI, which was recently acquired by AMD, who last year filed an antitrust suit against Intel. Intel says that the ATI documents are relevant to its defense of that lawsuit, according to IDG News, because the acquisition could alter AMDis ability to compete against the microprocessor giant.

AMD claims that Intel used its dominant position in the computer industry to force PC makers to avoid using AMD chips. Intel, which said in its filing that AMDis legal counsel didnit object to the subpoena request, wants to see the strategic rationale of the ATI acquisition, as well as how it will affect both microprocessor makersi business practices.
