JVC Ships New DV Based Camera, Builds On Previous Models

JVC has announced the release of a new family member to its pro DV line of cameras, the GY-DV5100U. The GY-DV5100U is a DV based camera that builds upon the 5000U, a camera that has been on the market for a few years.

New features included with the 5100U are the addition of 16x9 support, and a ?Hi Res Frame Mode? for increased vertical resolution and a more cinematographic effect. In the sound department, the camera features an additional XLR input, bringing the total to three built-in inputs. Tapeless image capturing is optional using the DR-DV5000U disc-based recorder negating the time needed to import the DV footage into an editing application.

You can find out more about the GY-DV5100U at the JVC site. The GY-DV5100U is available for US$6,495.00.
