SofCare GmbH has released an update for K4, bringing it to version 4.2. K4 is an editorial publishing system designed for use with Adobe InDesign and InCopy. The latest version features improved file management and search queries. According to SoftCare GmbH:
Germany-based SoftCare GmbH announces the availability of version 4.2 of the K4 Publishing System.
K4 is a collaborative workflow system for publishers that integrates Adobe® InDesign® 2.0 and the award-winning editorial tool Adobe InCopy® 2.0 with a powerful SQL database. Some of K4is new features broaden the functionality for editors, offering capabilities that are unique and new to the world of editorial systems.
- The new version allows article and layout templates to be stored and managed from within the K4 database, eliminating the need to leave InDesign or InCopy to find files on a file server
- A new active workflow routing feature makes it possible to assign a file to a specific user or user group
- Users can search K4 via a query palette, listing articles and layouts that correspond to a pre-defined or temporary query, and maintain a filtered view of their own assignments
