MPIO Announces Three New MP3 Portable Players

Digitalway/MPIO introduced three new portable digital music players Monday, all compatible with Macs and PCs. Pricing starts at US$100 for a flash-based player up to $280 for a 20 gigabyte, hard-drive based model.

All three players support MP3, WMA, ASF and OGG-format files.

The FL300 is the worldis smallest and lightest MP3 player, the company contends, at less than an ounce in weight and half the size of a pack of gum. The sapphire blue MP3 player is available in two different capacities -128MB and 256MB. The FL300 also features a clock and alarm and also doubles as USB storage. It features an internal lithium polymer battery that can be recharged when the device is attached to the USB port. The 128MB and 256MB models are available for $99.99 and $129.99 respectively.

The FY400 features an FM tuner, voice recorder, data storage and retractable USB 2.0 connector. Itis available in 128MB, 256MB and 1 gigabyte capacities and features a four-line display, five-directional key, volume dial and seven-band EQ. The FY400 delivers 20 hours of playback on one AAA battery, the company said. Itis integrated FM tuner can auto-scan, preset, store and record any FM radio station. The 128MB, 256MB and 1GB models cost $119.99, $149.99 and $219.99 respectively.

The HD300 model has 20GB of storage capacity to house 5,000 digital music files, along with a voice recorder, FM tuner, seven-band EQ and more. The 5.6 ounce HD300 features USB 2.0, an eight-line display and four-direction touch sensor button.

The PD300 comes with "Walk Office," a business productivity suite that includes word processing, spreadsheet and presentation graphics applications running in Java that open, edit and save directly in Microsoftis Office file format on either Windows-based PC or Macs.

The HD300 retails for $279.99.
