MacSoft to Set Sail with Tropico 2: Pirate Cove on May 19

MacSoft, the Mac games publishing arm of Destineer, has announced that Tropico 2: Pirate Cove has gone gold and will ship on May 19. While the first Tropico game placed players in charge of a banana republic, this edition takes them back to the 17th century and the heyday of Caribbean pirates.

Gamers play a pirate who has escaped forced servitude on a tobacco plantation and made his way to an island populated by aimless buccaneers. Players whip the men into shape and become their king, directing raids on French, British and Spanish fleets that sail too close and building up their own pirate empire. When war breaks out, they have to figure out how to play both sides against each other.

The suggested retail price is US$29.99. System requirements call for an 800MHz processor, Mac OS X v10.2.8 or higher, 32MB of video RAM and 1.8GB of free hard drive space.
