Macromedia Updates Web Publishing System

Macromedia Inc. announced Wednesday an update to its Web Publishing System (WPS). The update now includes Macromedia Contribute 3.1 and Macromedia Contribute Publishing Services 1.1 and is targeting enterprise clients.

New to the update is an Really Simple Syndication (RSS) activity feed that notifies subscribers when new pages have been posted or modified. Other new features include a simplified user interface for connecting to multiple Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) systems, multiple posting of Microsoft Office documents, integration with the Breeze Web conferencing application, staging-to-live deployment support, and a mechanism for distributing administrative responsibilities.

Contribute is a visual Web page editor used to update Internet and Intranet Web sites. Contribute Publishing Services helps to create and manage content created with Contribute.

Current users of WPS can download the free English update from the companyis update site. Volume discounts and government and education licensing are also available.
