Modems Reported as V.90 Instead of V.92 in Apple System Profiler

Apple has added a new article to the Knowledge Base regarding Apple System Profiler misreporting modem types. Appleis Knowledge Base (sometimes referred to as the KBase) is a central location for all of Appleis support documents and other important information.

On the latest crop of Powerbooks, iBooks, and Power Mac G4s running OS X 10.2.2, Apple System Profiler will falsely report the built-in v.92 modem as v.90. There is currently no solution, but Apple is working on it. From Apple:

Symptom

In Mac OS X 10.2.2, Apple System Profiler identifies v.92 modems as v.90 modems.

Solution

Apple is working on updating the Apple System Profiler application to properly recognize and report v.92 modems.
