E ven before the new product announcements, Steve Jobs had some good news to spread to the group assembled for the keynote speech at Appleis Worldwide Developers Conference, Monday morning. OS X adoption, applications and iTunes Music Store sales are all showing good progress.

Apple¨ today announced that there are over seven million active users of Mac¨ OS X, the worldis most advanced operating system, and that the number of Mac OS X applications has doubled to more than 6,000 during the past year, including the recently launched QuarkXPress 6, Photoshop 7, Acrobat 6, Director MX, QuickBooks Pro 5.0, Maya 5 and MATLAB.
Apple senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, Phil Schiller, showed excitement with state of OS and application development saying, "With Mac OS X, Apple is far outpacing any other operating system developer in the industry, leap-frogging the competition while theyire hoping to deliver years in the future what we already have today."
Appleis iPod, itis popular music player, is poised to hit a milestone as the Itunes Music Store keeps showing strong sales figures.
...music fans have downloaded over five million songs from the iTunes¨ Music Store since its launch eight weeks ago today. In addition, over 46 percent of the songs have been purchased as albums, and over 80 percent of the over 200,000 songs available on the online store have been purchased at least once. Apple also announced that it will ship its one millionth iPod this week. Apple introduced the third generation of its ultra-portable digital music player in April, and it has become a huge hit with music lovers worldwide.
Steve Jobs proclaimed during the WWDC keynote that the transition to Mac OS X had reached the turning point, relying on the companyis estimates of seven million users and 6,000 Mac OS X apps.
